Oh yeah. These kinds of incidents are quite common even in modern war, let alone back then.
Here’s another one:
USS Pompano was mistakenly bombed by aircraft from USS Enterprise but managed to escape.
Why are perceived or real slights interpreted as rejections and reality by pwBPD?
USS Tang pictured above, was an ace US submarine… until she literally sank herself with a circular running torpedo.
